At the end of September, the University of Helsinki opened a major new investment to the public: the new Think Corner (Tiedekulma). This three-storey forum for science and meeting place is designed to make the university’s work even more approachable. Unigrafia is closely involved in the production of Think Corner’s events.
The new Think Corner was opened in the university’s former administrative building, on the corner of Fabianinkatu and Yliopistonkatu. On the ground floor is the Event Square – a hub for public science, always open to everyone. It’s a space for meeting, conversation and interaction, and visitors can walk in at any time, even during an event. On the second floor of Think Corner is a video studio, which university students and staff can use for their own video productions.
Both spaces are equipped with video cameras managed by Unigrafia’s studio engineers. These are video professionals who ensure that all events are recorded and streamed smoothly. Unigrafia has also provided consultancy on equipment purchases – Think Corner’s video production tools are top-quality.
In recent years, Unigrafia has filmed and streamed, for example, doctoral defences, lectures and seminars – the role of video as a channel for sharing learning materials and content continues to grow within the university. With the addition of Think Corner’s studio engineers, the size of Unigrafia’s video production team is doubling.
Think Corner is an important meeting point from the university’s perspective – a place where researchers and science enthusiasts can come together. Leading universities around the world are opening event centres like Think Corner to boost visibility, make science more accessible and enhance academic discussion across society.
