Aalto University has partnered with us for publishing support services, offering detailed instructions for doctoral candidates and guidelines for other university publication series. Members of Aalto University also receive assistance with print orders and layout design, and we can prepare materials for print readiness.

We handle printing also for publications not designed by us, in collaboration with our contracted printer, PunaMusta, where tailored production meets client needs. The use of Aalto University's publishing platform has ended, and the ordering of all Aalto University publication series publications has been transferred to this site.

Start your order by downloading the short guide from the adjacent link.

Create a title page for the publication using the Word template. All publications will have a digital version, which will be submitted to the Aaltodoc publication archive. If the publication is also printed, prepare a list of pages to be printed in color. If needed, request a separate printing quote from Unigrafia.

Start here:

1. Download and read the short guide for ordering

2. Make the initial pages using the template in english, finnish or swedish

3. Apply for the publication number and ISBN numbers for your publication

5. Place the order using the order form

Once the order has been processed, you will receive an order confirmation from us, including a summary of your order and a schedule plan. Within a few days, you will receive a proof of both the cover and the content. Changes to the order can be made until you approve the proof.

Cover templates

Publications are categorized into types: Report, Research Report, Technical Report, Annual Report, Professional Development Report, Compilation, Conference Proceedings, Seminar Proceedings, Essay Collection, Learning Material, Teaching Material, and Working Papers.

The publication type is mentioned on the front cover of the publication. Choosing a publication type is optional.

The design of publications was renewed at the beginning of 2025. All types except Working Papers are published in B5 format. There are four alternative cover templates, two of which allow you to select an accent color. If your publication is also printed, please note that color tones may slightly differ from screen colors when printed on a four-color press.

In the Working Papers publication type, the cover does not include an image, but a short summary of the content (max. 922 characters) can be placed on the back cover.

For other publications, three of the cover options have space for a custom landscape image with dimensions of 125 mm × 176 mm and a resolution of at least 300 dpi. If the publication is printed, the image must be at least 3 mm wider and taller. This extra 3 mm will be trimmed off during the printing process.
